One of several "record shots" confirming 2 gray Gray Catbirds present at this location through of the season.
観察結果の詳細
After multiple reports of GRCA present at this location for the current season, Kris Kristovich and I searched for the species at the Pond Springs area of Camp Polk Meadow Preserve. Kris saw a largish dark passerine fly low into a willow clump, so we approached to investigate. Upon reaching the area, we heard the "mew" call of 1 individual and confirmed the bird visually (and with the attached image) in another willow clump. Within 2 minutes, the second bird began "mewing" from about 30m away in the same habitat. This area comprises dense, boggy, riparian habitat, with willow, alder, and aspen. It is spring-fed from the nearby slope and generally remains wet throughout the year. The Pond Springs area is publicly accessible only from the shoulder of Camp Polk Road; we were conducting a bird survey for the Deschutes Land Trust and were able to access the habitat from the inside of the property.
