NOTES: (Sex: ?male; Breeding stat:?probably territorial, ?breeding; Gen. climate: arid; Cover density: sparse; Water: dry wash; Env. zone: Chihuahuan Desert) [Given that the loud "kuk" calls appear to be given by the same bird as the sharp "wheet" notes, I suspect that these all represent calls by Toxostoma curvirostre. If so, the "kuk" calls probably represent the threat call noted in BNA (0:07, 0:10, 0:28, 0:52) and the "wheet" the latter part of the more typical "whit-wheet" (0:25, 0:35, 0:39, 0:46). I suspect this bird was alarmed for some reason, possibly having a nest or young nearby. Quality changed from 1-2 to 2-1 - CAM - 3 November 2005]. Habitat: Riparian, Desert, Scrub.
