Detalles de la observación
Photographed. My initial impression was purple martin. Seen flying near the Sepulveda Dam with other swallows. I noted a somewhat larger, mostly dark swallow with a different flight pattern than what I am used to seeing from the common swallows in the area. This bird, at least from the angles in the photos didn't seem to have a forked tail like a purple martin should. Perhaps this could simply be an unusually darkly pigmented northern rough-winged swallow.
