Detalles de la observación
Just one birder got to see the bird (Moises Castañeda-member of Jilgueros Bird Watching Club). He took a picture of one individual. Big black guan with a bluish bare skin around eye and red throat wattle. Locals say that these guans are a bit common during some seasons, especially when some local ripened fruits called "Ciruela" (not plums) are everywhere in the area. Possibly these guans are altitudinal migrants that descend from Opatoro-Guajiquiro mountains. When the birds were flushed they emitted a loud call (alarm call?). This Crested Guan population may be the last remaining birds for this part of the country.
