NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 13. LNS Bulk reel: 02 Tech. Note: I wrote in Lat/Long. for Rio Catatumbo, Zulia, because this is the word I found referenced in the Gazetteer of Venezuela. mf Notes: One phrase (very beginning has voice interference) This bird was roosting near my camp. It sang the first time that i noticed @ approx. 2215hr, and then not again until 2355hr when this recording resulted (notes continue on next page.) From dusk on numerous T. major were heard, all distant. Those individuals were either more frequently vocal or the number was considerable. However, the near bird did sing more frequently (~0030hr, ~0105hr, and perhaps other times, the last being somwhere between 0545 and 0630) after the 2nd time, but by then, I had put equip. away and had "retired." There was a small shower on 19Mar, then very heavy showers on 20Mar and 21Mar, all @ night w/that beginning of the rain T. major was heard much less frequently @ night, limited mostly to a phrase @ dusk and @ dawn. Also, it became obvious from a week in the region that these birds do not roost in, or even necessarily near, the same place on successive nights. Weather: cloudy, fair. Other Behaviors: Roost.
