Podrobnosti k pozorování
Seen on rocky island just above the water's edge in the inter-tidal zone. Teetering on two yellowish legs it wandered in search of food. Plump gray brown shorebird overall with longer legs than a Spotted Sandpiper and shorter legs than a Willet. Long wings and straight, medium length bill gave the bird a stretched out appearance. As we approached in the boat it often flew around the corner and out of sight. At one point it was seen well at close range and it was easy to see a dark eyeliner and distinct white loral area. It was seen next to a Spotted Sandpiper and it was clearly two to three times larger. Heard giving a quick four or five part twittering flight call (resembling Short-billed Dowitcher or Lesser Yellowlegs). It did not strike me as being any different than any other Wandering Tattler I've ever heard; Gray-tailed would've been nice though! Poor quality photos added. - Raymond VanBuskirk
