Observation details
I got some distant photos. Probably the same bird that has been seen sporadically on the north shore the past few weeks. I saw the bird fly out of the sound and down river towards Essex Bay and Crane Beach. The bird was closely tailing a herring gull and it eventually landed on the rocky bar/island offshore from Crane Beach and Sandy Point in the sound. Looked to be an juvenile (1st year) bird which was brownish dorsally and on head and neck with a white belly.
