Very pale bird. I got quite excited at the time because it looked interesting and I hoped it might be something a little special so I put it down as a diurnal raptor to be checked later. I've now had a chance to peruse the grubby photos that I grabbed and I believe it was almost certainly a Common Buzzard. The photos are attached.
