觀察細節
Spent some time looking for the Fox Sparrow Alan found last week. Just west of the first 1/4 mile marker going west from the park, I heard high sharp but thin whistled calls and a few loud piercing smacks that I thought were probably it, and reminded me of my extensive experience with winter Sooties in western Oregon. I managed to record the former call type, and Merlin also suggested Fox Sparrow, though the call is similar to certain alarm calls of Song Sparrow. I'm guessing the Fox Sparrows we sometimes get in winter (like the Rancho San Rafael bird, 3 years ago) are Sooties, but would be nice to get better documentation of that.
