High count due to concentration at a known roost site. Conservative estimate. Some systematic counting at this roost November 2021 came up with an estimate of 13,000, and in 2023, 11,000. Likely those numbers or more present currently this year. In 2022 and 2024 only hundreds were found at this roost. Starlings initially dominated tonight's pre-roosting flight, with flocks of grackles arriving from the WNW and W between 4:40-4:54 PM in five major groups and joining them. The starlings mostly going down first and grackles down after them by 5:02 PM. Still extremely noisy at 5:08 PM when I left, with grackle calls vastly dominating over starlings.
