Initially, observed the flock in flight some distance out in the farm field, but could not identify. A delegation of four of our group (thanks very much!) ventured out to obtain proper ID. At some point, the birders were turned back by the farmer, who informed them (in a nice way) that they should not be walking on an organic farm field ( a good thing to know for future reference!).
