massive aggregation just off the head; max exact count = 356. Group of 35 off Androscoggin side farther away. Near group: Strung out in a long raft partly visible from the parking area but very obliging at the point itself; multiple groups diving in tight crowds, and nearly all birds delivering constant barks, peeps, and warbles (in all a bizarre almost ice-like cacophony). Second biggest aggregation i’ve seen in maine (to the Mere Pt winter flock of a few years back), and my first time hearing the sp. vocalize. Picked through for about a half hour for other aythya ducks but only turned up the 3 RNDU drakes. Possibly more as there were a few groups of ~10 farther out, but too far to distinguish LESC/GRSC for certain. Later ~320 seen in the direction of the 35 on the Androscoggin side—considered whether these were repeats, but the original group was still present on my arrival back at the parking area. Adjusted total count = 356+320-35 = 641
