Male Hardhead preening in the afternoon sun. The Hardhead (Aythya australis) is a handsome diving duck that may be found in almost most parts of Australia although it is less common in desert and northern areas. This male Hardhead was perching on a log in Lake Monger near Perth preening in the late afternoon sun. Elevation: 13 m. Date added to IBC: June 3, 2018.
