A Tawny Eagle feeding on the carcass of a male Impala . Tawny Eagles (Aquila rapax) are fairly common in protected areas, but are declining elsewhere. They occur widely throughout sub-Saharan Africa, only avoiding areas of rainforest and far southern South Africa. This Tawny Eagle was feeding on the abandoned carcass of a male Impala that had been killed and eaten by a Leopard the night before near the edge of the H1-4 Road north of Satara Restcamp in Kruger National Park in the early morning. It was displaced from the carcass by a White-headed Vulture and then several White-backed Vultures. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 21, 2019.
