Observation details
Juvenile initially noticed after being flushed by two COHA and then settling down on east edge of south (smaller) pond here: (42.5763611, -78.8406134). Later spent most of its time feeding in short grass on east side of south pond. Large, mostly grayish shorebird with long, slightly upturned bill with pale pinkish base, obvious pale supercilium, and striking pattern of black underwings and white tail with black terminal band. Aged as a juvenile based on crisp internal markings to upperpart feathers (scapulars, coverts, tertials) with a few recently molted plain gray formative/first-winter scapulars. Photos.
