Observation details
Beautiful bird found this am by E. Monson, I believe. When I arrived I got on the bird almost immediately as I walked up the sidewalk from the Lighthouse overlook heading back (east) towards the bathrooms; the bird was standing on the short brick wall near the yellow fire hydrant, calling. It then moved over to the closed stairs between the residence and the restrooms and was easily seen a few times before it darted back into cover. Eventually it came out for unobscured views for about 15-20 seconds. I was looking at the bird simultaneously with another birder who was as down below on the sidewalk by the residence. Personally, a much desired county bird! Lovely sparrow-towhee. Fairly unmistakeable medium-size "oval-shaped" bird with rufous crown, yellow-green wings, back, and tail, bright white throat, and gray head and breast. What a color combo!
