Observation details
Many more birds roosting here than two days ago even though tide was still quite low. Also more Red flag birds including EVV, LHT, KXC, NKX and one with datalogger. Banding details provided by Dr. Juan G. Navedo (jgnavedo@uach.cl) Bird Ecology Lab Instituto de Ciencias Marinas y Limnológicas Universidad Austral de Chile Millennium Institute Biodiversity of Antarctic and Subantarctic Ecosystems (BASE) EVV was captured and banded along with 32 individuals at Caulín, Chiloé, on March 7th 2017. It was a non-adult individual when banded. Based on culmen length it´s most probably a female. This is a particular gorgeous resighting since we´ve never been able to resight it since banded! LHT was captured and banded along with 12 individuals at Quempillén, Chiloé, on January 21th 2020. Based on culmen length it´s a male. We´ve resighted once at Quempillén, close to Ancud, Nov 2020. KXC was captured and banded along with 17 individuals at Caulín, Chiloé, by March 10th 2019. Based on culmen length it´s a male. We´ve resighted at Caulín several times, last January 2021. NKX was captured and banded along with 30 individuals at Caulín, Chiloé, by March 25th 2022. Based on culmen length we can not sex it (probably a female). First resight!
