Media notes
The pale-blue iris and a white crescent behind the ear are among the features distinguishing Nonggang Babbler Stachyris nonggangensis from Sooty Babbler S. herberti. The latter occurs in Laos and Vietnam and is the species to which Nonggang Babbler is most often compared. 18 Dec. 2015, Longheng, Guangxi. Craig Brelsford.
Observation details
It may seem incredible that a vertebrate species in China remained undiscovered until the 21st century. That however is the case with Nonggang Babbler Stachyris nonggangensis, discovered by Chinese researchers in 2008.
