Media notes
Potential Pink-footed Shearwater habitat on Islote Farallón off of Isla Santa Maria, Chile. This uninhabited islet was not searched during our search of Isla Santa Maria for nesting pink-footed shearwaters, and appeared like the only possible place they would be likely to nest, since the main island is heavily modified by people and introduced mammals.
Observation details
During three days of searching, we did not encounter pink-footed shearwater nesting activity on Isla Santa Maria, though based on interviews with locals, it appears possible that PFSH once nested on the island. We were unable to search Islote Farallón off the north side of Isla Santa Maria, which is uninhabited by people and may potentially have nesting habitat. However, this islet is small and would not contain a great deal of nesting habitat.
