Observation details
The geese were sitting on the meadows west of the observation tower and were several times flying up, but landed always a short time later again on the meadows; a small group of about 100 also landed on the "Weiher". Some photos of the flying geese were used for counting. Parts of this photo were counted and from these values the total number estimated. The photo used surely did not contain all of the geese, the geese remaining on the meadows were not on the photo and not all of the flying geese were on the photo. The number of 7000 is surely underestimated. Tundra Bean Goose, Grayleg Goose, Greater White-fronted Goose and one Barnacle Goose were identified from photos.
