Rough estimate. Honestly, I didn’t even try to get any sort of real estimate but there were easily thousands coming in to roost in some trees near the medical center. Incredible to witness the sheer volume of birds that seemed to simply appear out of nowhere. Spoke with a local who has watched the roosting behavior before who said that sometimes there are up to 60,000 purple martins here. I don’t think there were that many tonight but there were certainly thousands. I’ll upload some photos and videos I have and am happy to change my estimate if needed since it’s very rough and definitely low
