2nd state record for Vermont. The homeowners sent me photos of the bird the day prior and invited me to come confirm the identification the following morning. The hummer showed itself soon after I arrived, fed at a hummingbird feeder for a couple of minutes and then took off, never to be seen again! I managed a get a few poor documentation shots. The homeowners did get video of the bird, which they submitted with their RSD. Overall green with violet ear patches and violet on the belly and chest. Wide dark subterminal band on tail. Medium length curved bill.
