Saw definitive short wing stripe when it flapped; tall head, thin neck . . .but apparently someone questioned the ID so I am changing this bird to the slash. When it flapped its wings, while I was viewing through the scope, the white stripe did not extend to the primaries. Wing-stripe is more reliable than nail tip. Other characteristics such as head and bill shape could be debated. Best fix: use the slash. 12/8 New info unknown to me before: young males may not have white extending to primaries. Other features such as overall blocky head and eye above midpoint consistent with Greater. Thanks to Tony Leukering for his help with the ID.
