Distant shot of flock of Snow Bunting over trees between Thompson Bay and Budny Beach, in brief pocket of sunshine in otherwise cloudy/snowy conditions. (Smaller white specks in shot are snow.)
観察結果の詳細
Exact count. I was standing on the edge of inner Thompson Bay (by the access closest to Beach 11), watching a pair of Common Merganser. They flew off, then the sun poked through, rather dramatically lighting the trees on the north edge of Thompson Bay. As I was taking a few shots of the trees, there was a burst of distant bird activity - at least a couple dozen bright white spots (in the sunlight against dark skies) of activity, over/through the trees between Thompson Bay and Budny Beach. Figured they might be Snow Bunting, but fairly soon thereafter the flock flew directly south towards me across Thompson Bay, confirming Snow Bunting (seen and heard). I think after that they flew into the area on the west side of Thompson Bay, but unsure.
