9 -- 2025-11-8: while studying for Bahia-26 I came across the photo below labeled as Tropical Gnatcatcher! In processing the photo I noticed that the prominent dark eye stripe was NOT in the other photo, from Costa Rica-18 , labeled Tropical Gnatcatcher. BOTW did not show the eye stripe for the Tropical Gnatcatcher! My Costa Rica iphone birding app did NOT even have Tropical Gnatcatcher on it. Rather it had White-browed Gnatcatcher and another gnatcatcher. The BOTW saved the day with their description of the White-browed Gnatcatcher: " it was grouped with the now exclusively South American Tropical Gnatcatcher (Polioptila plumbea), which lacks the white eyebrow and has subtly different songs" Whew.
