観察結果の詳細
Initially from the Young overlook, Donna spotted a very distant jaeger harassing birds to the west on the other side of the river. We later determined that the location was at the fenced impoundment on the west side. SWC was watching the bird through the scope and noted two individuals in view at once. The jaegers were too far to ID any further, but eventually moved to the east side of the river and began harassing birds over a wide area, at which point we could see three individuals at once. After we relocated to the stretch from Bowles to the river levee, one of the jaegers flew by much closer chasing a Sterna. We could clearly see that it was a light morph adult Parasitic with a nice pair of spiked central rectrices about 2-3 inches long. Possible photos of this bird after it disengaged from the tern and was moving farther away (eventually landed on the water too far for photos). We assume that the other two jaegers were also Parasitic as they all seemed very similar in size and proportions in direct comparison to each other.
