Previously reported as red-necked but I believe this bird is a red given chunkier bill and extensive grey on back/scaps. Some streaking is present but I believe this is due to molt. Seen on southernmost large pond. Interestingly, I scoured the place for 15 minutes, seeing nothing, and the bird flew in from somewhere (probably resting on a bank) to the middle of the pond just before I was going to leave.
