One adult bird seen very well at mile marker 16.4: large seabird (larger than a Laughing Gull), dark chocolate brown above, white below. The head was darker than the back, and was entirely brown, extending down to a clean cutoff on the upper chest. The underwing coverts were white, though the rest of the wing was dark. The tail was long, brown, and wedge-shaped. The bill was dagger-shaped and was pinkish-yellow fading to yellow facial skin. The bare facial skin was pale yellow, and extended as far back as behind the eye. The bare skin around the lores was bluish, indicating a male. The feet were yellow-pink.
