A female Coscoroba Swan on her nest with four cygnets. Coscoroba Swans (Coscoroba Swans (Coscoroba coscoroba) are endemic to southern South America, and are fairly common in Patagonia, occupying mainly freshwater wetlands. This female Coscoroba Swan was sheltering her four cygnets from the strong wind blowing across the Laguna los Palos on Route 9 north of Punta Arenas in southern Chile. The nest was less than 10 metres from the edge of the busy main road. Elevation: 18 m. Date added to IBC: March 2, 2019.
