Great find this morning by Steve Tucker; saw it initially with him and Mark Kudrav, later with several other birders. Mostly with surf scoter flock south of south jetty, but occasionally by itself. Moved up and down the beach; on one occasion when it was ~50m south of the large black pipe it came extremely close to shore, apparently eating mole crabs -- within 4-5 meters of dry sand. 'Charged' once by a surf scoter but didn't seem too bothered.
