In general counting individuals with more Herring-like structure outside the normal size range of Thayer's and typically bill size/shape fitting Herring. Adults with Herring-like mantle/primary contrast but showing primary tips grayer than expected and/or with atypically large white mirrors/tongues, irises often mid-dark occasionally clear like Herring but with pink orbital as in G-w, bill color flat or lacking greenish overtones seen in adult Thayer's. 1st cycles typically with Herring-like juvenile patterning (often somewhat smeared in the coverts), but distinctly paler brownish primaries often with Thayer's-like pale fringing or pale inner webs. Bills often paling or pink at the base unlike most 1st cycle Olympic.
