We took a close look today at the young Broad-tailed Hummingbird that we've been seeing briefly for a while. It seems it's a young male that has a problem bill (note the tip in the photos). It has a few red flecks on the gorget, buffy flanks, and a long, broad tail with substantial white tips. Its bill seems to be crossed at its tip...which is perhaps why it's still hanging around....
