Dainty, shorebird with long, thin neck. Head with dark cap; thin, black needle-like longish bill. Sides of face with bold dark "eye patch"!extending back behind the eye. Observed feeding in shallows; behavior of turning in small circles jabbing at the water surface. Also slept for a while in the grass on upper shore
