NOTES: Recorder: EMI RE321 set 2; Microphone: Gramp DP5; the editor has classified Dassie under this genus; however some species of hyrax or dassie sound very much alike on occassions. the editor feels that there is possibly no doubt that this classification is correct. Myles did not see the animals; tus there could be some doubt as the two rock species overlap throught East Africa and the editor is not personally sure shich species it is outside of Naivasha. however, it is most likely to be Procavia capensis. Habitat: the recording was made 3 mile Southeast of Naivasha at the foot of a rocky bluff/small clifflike outcropping. the surrounding country is open plains with very occassional Acacia Trees.
