Détails de l'observation
I was flipping through some old photos while riding the BART train and this one stood out to me. It was a an obvious Herring Gull based on structure and size compared to the birds around it. However, this bird has a significantly darker mantle than a typical HEGU (compare to the California Gull on the right). Additionally, its head streaks are darker, sparser, and limited to the back of its crown/nape. Its eye has a dark "angry" appearance. Its legs, albeit incredibly obscured, appear to be a bright pink color. Regrettably this photo is out of focus, and doesn't show the diagnostic red orbital ring, but I think all in all the field marks show an adult Vega Gull.
