e started with his normal song for 4 minutes, then the slightly ornamented song for 6 minutes, went quiet for 30-40 seconds, returned to ornamented song for 40 seconds, switched to a song that had a catbird mimic after the first "chick" sound for 2.5 minutes (new to me), and then ended with bubbly clicks and mews (also new to me) for 2 minutes.
Détails de l'observation
Singing across stream on Davis branch by old downed tree from beaver, 2nd at meadow and north loop intersection - viewed as it bopped around singing continuously. Possible 3rd along stream of north track, but I can’t be certain he wasn’t the buddy at the intersection. Also just hopped continuously - the longest it perched for me for 5 seconds, and usually obscured and tucked behind leaves and branches. Spent about 30 minutes combined watching, attempting to photograph (ha!) and recording. Audio below is all from the same bird, extracted from a 15+ minute performance (I was farther down the trail before I started recording). He started with his normal song for 4 minutes, then the slightly ornamented song for 6 minutes, went quiet for 30-40 seconds, returned to ornamented song for 40 seconds, switched to a song that had a catbird mimic after the first "chick" sound for 2.5 minutes (new to me), and then ended with bubbly clicks and mews (also new to me) for 2 minutes. I've found examples of the the catbird mimic, but I haven't found examples of the final vocalization on Macaulay yet.
