Détails de l'observation
*Rare; two individuals seen together on the flats extending from Chapin Beach (specifically positioned slightly to the right of a line drawn directly out from the observation platform at the end of the Bass Hole Boardwalk). Views were distant, but extended temporally. Both birds appeared to be second or third cycle/adult-types with rosy suffusion to breasts (which first drew my attention to them), white foreheads, dark caps partly streaked white, dark auriculars, mantles of a slightly lighter shade than BOGU, and largely pale tips to primaries. Analysis of poor digiscoped photos following the sighting shows the presence of partially black wingtips on one of the birds (the one on the left), which largely clinches it as a second cycle (it appears that no black is present on the other bird, which suggests it's an adult/third cycle). Were not seen associating with the large flock of BOGUs which was at one point roosting maybe ten meters to their east (although its possible that when they disappeared they joined the latter in the water north of the flat). Of note: photos only cropped and sharpened and so rosy color appears largely as it did in the field.
