Detalles de la observación
This pelican was present at the mouth of the Beaver River where it meets the Ohio River at Bridgewater. Large white bird with orange legs and feet, oversized orange bill with large pouch, black primaries and some black secondaries. The black secondaries caused some confusion at the time because it was thought American White Pelicans did not have black secondaries, however looking at photos of this species, many actually do have black secondaires, either completely or partially, so this character must vary in individuals. An article about this bird and its identification was published in the journal Pennsylvania Birds, Volume 11, No. 2 (April - June 1997). chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://pabirds.org/pabirds/backissues/PBV11N2.pdf
