it may be an alarm call as the bird visibly got agitated seeing me standing in its possibly hunting ground. Thereafter the bird was around and silent for some time

The call was recorded around the Thoothampara Watch Tower. In front of the watch tower which is due east there is the vast sea of undulating hills and forest till horizon and overlooking the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. I was recording calls of the daybreak. Suddenly this bird flew from my left side and overhead, visibly agitated and calling. It was calling till it alighted on top of the bamboo towards right side of me and became silent. It again went to my left side tree and remained there, but did not make any call. The call recordings were sent to Sri C. Sasikumar and he identified the species
