First summer/first alternate plumage. Two generations of feathers in wings and tail.
Beobachtungsdetails
Singing and doing flight displays about every 5 to 8 minutes. Several times it landed on a shrub or tall plant. Very windy. Around 6 pm it and the Dickcissels went silent for almost an hour. Just before 7 pm, it sang again, perched, and flew to wheat field on north side of road, presumably to feed. It then flew to fenceline and to field and fenceline to the west. First summer/first alternate male with black head, neck, breast and belly. Has retained worn brown juvenile primaries and secondaries, with black outer primaries and tertials edged in white. Brown juvenile tail has one or two black feathers edged in white. Big white wing patch. Silvery lower mandible. Found by Will Doel.
