Beobachtungsdetails
This well behaved individual was found around 17:15 and I spent the remainder of my time here pursuing the bird, only the second to be found in Mexico and the first to be photo-documented (18-19 Oct 1996 Cataviña, BC record documented by Hamilton et al. 2000. Western Birds 31:117-119). The bird was along the canyon just north of the entrance station, where all of the understory was burned out by wildfire just days before. It visited the leaky water structure on the south side of the canyon and worked along the ash-laden stream all the way down to the road crossing, back up to the water structure, and finally farther upstream. It flew up into the eucalyptus several times and was heard calling on occasion. It's call was a short "spiz" note similar to the Tree Pipit calls I heard in Europe a couple of months prior. The attached recording appears to be clipped a bit at the end.
