NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 1. Bulk reel: 403. Call heard 28/VII/73 at Hola La Encantada, ca. Boqueron, Carabobo: A quiet "piscua" similar to the "quiet piscua" of P. cayana but first figure was a nasal "chok," rather like one of the call notes of Campylorhynchus nuchalis but a bit stronger and more prolonged while the second figure was even quieter than in P. cayana. Weather: Fair. 203 tape. a) 8:20 AM. A different kind of vocalization from that described above. This is similar to Coffey's recording. Quality: 2-3. Level: +5. Tape speed: 3 3/4. Low noise. 9:30 AM. More of same, birds calling very quietly. Quality: 3. Level: +10. 10:30 AM. More later. In this there are some good calls by birds in focus, including "chek" calls and also, less good, some of the "quiet piscua" howlings, one at 45" (in background) and one at end (in focus). Quality: 2- to 1-2. Level: +3. Tape speed: 7.5. Low noise. b) ~ 1:00 PM. "Alternate" calls and "piscua" call (one at ~ 38"). Quality: 2-. Level: +5. Tape speed: 3 3/4. Low noise.
