NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 16. Bulk reel: 208 Weather: Cloudy. Vocalizations, apparently in a conflict situation. Quality: 1. Level: +3. Sometime ~8:15AM, up the slope where the activity had been earlier, I heard some "courtship" growls and some "conflict vocalizations." Then one bird planed far out, followed immediately by another, which also planed; the first bird turned to its left and planed back toward the slope; the second bird did the same, but far short of where the first had turned; the two alighted in trees back on the slope, but lower down, about 6m from each other (it seems to me the one bird had probably chased the other; perhaps two males, one of them trying to cut in on a formed pair?). About 15 minutes later the recorded conflict calls recurred and right after that a bird planed out and circled back to its left (the same bird being chased again?); a few minutes later another bird planed out from the same place, circling to its right, across the small ravine to a slope out of view. Number of individuals=UU1+;.
