NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 24. Bulk reel: 42.Weather: Cloudy, variable, occasional drizzle.a) 10:40 AM. Normal type song, after playback. Kept as geographical sample. Apparently normal color and markings; did have ear tufts raised when seen (which was after playback). There had been several in the area singing naturally, apparently including a female (high voice). Quality: 2-3. Level: +3. No parabola. 203 tape.b) After persistent playback in an attempt to cause the owls to give the "bother screams" (unsuccessful), the near owl began to give some sharp "barks." One in background also calls ~ similarly. Quality: 1-2. Level: +3. No parabola? Yes, probably 36". 203 tape.(Note inadvertent playback of Myrmeciza immaculata @ ~ 3:30.). Sound stimulation was (other): playback.
