Media notes

NOTES: A GROUP OF 5-6 CANVASBACKS COURTING AMONG THE LARGE FLOCK OF AYTHYA AMERICANA, ANAS STREPERA, ANAS ACUTA, ANAS CLYPEATA, ETC. ON THE SMALL LOWER POND. WHEN THE MALE CALLED HE OPENED HIS BILL SLIGHTLY AND GAVE A SINGLE 'CUCK'. WHEN HE THREW HIS HEAD BACK TO HIT HIS BACK AND THEN CAME FORWARD AGAIN, HE GAVE THE SOMEWHAT LOUDER 'CUCK-COO' AS A SWELLING THE SIZE OF A MARBLE FORMED BENEATH HIS BILL. THE FEMALE DID NOT OPEN THEIR BILLS BUT I THINK THE ACCOMPANYING CHATTER WAS MADE BY THEM. P.P. KEL. Number of individuals=AU5-6;. Other Behaviors: Court, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Pond.
