Media notes

Behavior and other notes: A pair of Blue Jays interacting. One of the birds was displaying with its tail spread, wings slightly spread, and "jumping" around from perch to perch. The other bird did not appear to display at all and seemed to be trying to maintain some distance from this displaying bird. It also appeared that the bird doing the display was giving most of the vocalizations. The two birds were always within a meter of each other. The vocalizations are very different, R2D2 sounding. There were no other birds of any kind in the tree with them. Recording Time: 1506 (UTC -4). Temperature 13C. Habitat: mixed deciduous woods. Distance to sound source: 18 meters. Specific location: Wood Song, Berkeley Co., WV. Latitude 39.575464, Longitude -78.056623. Elevation 156 meters. ID’d by sight and sound; ID confidence 100%. Equipment notes: Recorder HPF on at 80Hz, -12dB/octave.
