Media notes
Calls by two adult birds that were circling overhead calling about 150 meters away and 75 meters above the ground as they circled over a small hill along the road just short of a swampy area where the road backed up a small stream amid rather scrubby forest. In the second part of this recording, a single bird began by circling over the hillside, but then flew straight overhead, circled around a few times, and then returned to the hillside. It was as near as 100-150 meters and as far as 250-300 meters from me, all the while 100-150 meters above the ground. in the third part of the recording, a single bird was circling overhead with a single Ictinia about 200 meters away and 75-100 meters above the ground. 3.5 kilometers beyond the bridge over the Río Grande. [8° 06’ 43.0” N, 61° 39‘ 50.0” W, 283 meters]. These birds may have been prompted to call by the presence of the pair of Ictinia plumbea in the immediate vicinity. Partly cloudy, breezy, 82° F. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
