Media notes
A nestling that was well seen 50 meters away and 30 meters up on a relatively large, horizontal branch in the lower part of the canopy just above a known nest located in a huge tree a short distance back from a clearing in the canopy of tall terra firme forest [07° 57’ 00.6” N, 61° 43’ 13.7” W, 291 meters]. We were told that this bird was a year-and-a-half old, and we were clearly able to see that was essentially full-sized, with a gray breast-band, a white head, and some black feathers coming in on the back. This bird remained essentially motionless, but each time it called it spread its wings slightly with each note and pulled the head back in towards the body with the bill pointing forward while held relatively far open exposing pinkish mouth-linings. We never did see the adults. Partly cloudy, breezy, 80° F. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
