NOTES: A different pair of spinetails than that recorded in cut #2001-20-02, these birds were initially 6-8 meters away and seemingly 1-2 meters up, but later after playback they were 4 meters away and 3-4 meters up in dense tangles overhead, both times along the road at the edge of dense, scrubby second-growth on the slope above a side road on the far side of the valley; the first part of this recording was made following my ÒspishingÓ at the tanagers in the previous cut (#2001-20-05), after which the spinetail began calling, but I could not determine if the Synallaxis began calling as a result of the spishing; in response to later playback, the birds sang more consistently, gave chatters, and they approached, allowing me to obtain good views of at least one bird (described on tape in detail); the growth here was also a little more conducive to observation than was that frequented by the bird I recorded earlier and these birds moved more slowly making them easier to see; fully overcast, calm, 82¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise, Scold. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Second-growth, Scrub, Edge.
