Media notes
These are the calls of mostly juvenile Bushtits. At the end of the cut a couple of Blue Jays arrive (calls faintly audible) and one of the Bushtits (an adult?) gives the rapid-fire alarm, and the Bushtits fly off. High-pass filter applied because of noise from water in a ditch going over a lock. Note: This is the same general flock, or super-flock, as in ML106612671.
Observation details
At least that number. Probably a fair bit more. Am not sure how to interpret the phenomenon. Many young were present, but perhaps from several broods? Andrew Floyd made this smartphone video of one of the fledglings soliciting feeding by an adult: http://tinyurl.com/Bushtit-June-24.
